An Interactive Design Solution for Remote Teaching during Covid-19
Media Technology and Interaction Design/Autumn 2020
The outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic forced the world to shut down businesses including educational institutes. During this crisis, the teachers and students were introduced to the virtual classrooms to continue the education process.
With the year theme of Pandemic media, the project investigated the challenges faced by the teachers using various applications for online education. The study proposed an interactive UI design prototype to facilitate the teachers in remote teaching through a smooth and enhanced user experience.
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
The project was developed using Double-Diamond Process Model to get the detailed insight about the challenges and major usability issues related to various applications for online teaching. The prototype was designed using the Figma tool.
DISCOVER and DEFINE
Semi structured interviews were conducted for qualitative user research data. Later social media platforms survey, and background study of related scholarly articles was conducted to identify the major challenges, setting out the goals and develop Personas for testing. The technical tools Miro, Zoom and Canva are used during this phase.
DEVELOP and DELIVER
During development phase brainstorming sessions were carried out to design Low-fi sketches using Adobe Illustrator. Latter an interactive UI design prototype is developed using Figma application. The delivered interface design includes more easy options and additional features to enhance the interaction and user experience for teachers during online class sessions.
